Bakoven at a glance

Bakoven is situated just beyond Camps Bay and was probably named such due to the large boulder on the waters edge that the Dutch explorers nicknamed ‘baking oven’ due to a marking on its side that represents an oven door.

The pristine sandy beach with its scattered boulders and rock pools make it a very sought after area and properties range from beach bungalows to majestic penthouses and villas further up the mountain face with the Twelve Apostles Mountain range as a backdrop.

In the busy summer months, Bakoven is a little gem away from the maddening crowds where you can explore the rock pools, and enjoy the beach in peace and quiet.  Keep an eye out for whales as they are often spotted visiting the little bay.

Bakoven has very stringent building rules to maintain the structure and look and feel of the area.
